DIU to expand Blue UAS List

Upcoming Competition

The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) announced on January 19, 2023, that it will hold a competition to refresh its Blue UAS List. This list identifies unmanned aircraft systems that have been approved for use by the Department of Defense. The competition will consider first-person view drones, Group 1, 2, and 3 UAS, and other types of unmanned aircraft.

Purpose of the Competition

The purpose of the competition is to identify new and innovative unmanned aircraft systems that meet the needs of the Department of Defense. The competition will also help to ensure that the Blue UAS List remains current and relevant. DIU will use the results of the competition to update the Blue UAS List later this year.

Eligibility

The competition is open to all companies and organizations that can provide innovative unmanned aircraft systems. The competition will be divided into two phases. In the first phase, competitors will submit proposals for their unmanned aircraft systems. In the second phase, the top proposals will be selected for testing and evaluation.

Timeline

The competition will begin in February 2023 and will conclude in December 2023. The deadline for submitting proposals is March 15, 2023. The top proposals will be announced in April 2023. Testing and evaluation will be conducted from May to October 2023. The final results of the competition will be announced in December 2023.
