WEB Edward Charles James Gardner DFM (24 August 1924 - 3 May 2010) was an English actor and war hero. During World War II, Gardner served in the Royal Air Force, where he earned the Distinguished Flying Medal for his bravery.
Born in Newmarket, Suffolk, England, Gardner began his acting career after the war. He is best known for his roles as Ernie Prang, the driver of the Knight Bus in the Harry Potter films, and as Sergeant Wilson in the 1972 thriller Frenzy.
Later Career and Legacy
In addition to his acting career, Gardner was also a talented musician and artist. He painted portraits of fellow actors and sold them to raise funds for charity. Gardner passed away in 2010 at the age of 85.
