Manchester City vs Real Madrid: Preview

Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne Seal Comeback Win for City in Madrid

Real Madrid vs Manchester City

In a thrilling UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg match at the Santiago Bernabéu, Manchester City came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid.

Isco put Madrid ahead in the 60th minute, but Gabriel Jesus equalized with a header just seven minutes later. Kevin De Bruyne then converted a penalty in the 82nd minute to give City the lead and ultimately the win.

The result gives City a slight advantage heading into the second leg at the Etihad Stadium on March 17. However, manager Pep Guardiola has warned his team that they cannot afford to be complacent.

"We need to be cautious in the second leg," Guardiola said. "Real Madrid is a great team and they will be looking to get back into the tie at home. We need to be prepared for a tough match."

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane was understandably disappointed with the result, but he believes his team can still turn things around in the second leg.

"We played well in the first half, but we made some mistakes in the second half that cost us the game," Zidane said. "We need to learn from our mistakes and come out stronger in the second leg. We can still win this tie."
