Relentless Blues outplay City

Manchester City suffer 2-0 defeat to Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium

The Blues were relentless from the word go and went into the break 2-0 up thanks to a couple of goals from Bernardo Silva. City were unable to kill off Ancelotti's side despite scoring through Phil Foden in the second half.

Bernardo Silva stars for Chelsea

The Portuguese winger was in inspired form for Chelsea, scoring both goals and causing City's defense all sorts of problems. His first goal came in the 10th minute, when he curled a superb effort into the top corner from the edge of the box. His second came just before half-time, when he pounced on a loose ball in the City area and fired home from close range.

City wasteful in front of goal

Despite dominating possession for large periods of the game, City were unable to make the most of their chances. Erling Haaland had a couple of good opportunities to score in the first half, but he was denied by some excellent goalkeeping from Edouard Mendy. Phil Foden did eventually pull a goal back for City in the second half, but it was too little too late.

Ancelotti's Chelsea continue to impress

Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea continue to impress this season. The Blues have now won their last five games in all competitions and are looking like genuine title contenders. Their victory over City was particularly impressive, as they outplayed the champions for large periods of the game.

Conclusion

Chelsea's 2-0 victory over Manchester City was a deserved one. The Blues were the better team throughout the game and were worthy winners. City will be disappointed with their performance, but they will need to bounce back quickly as they have a tough run of fixtures coming up.
